How to Speak With Confidence About Pricing (Even if You’re Raising It)
May 29, 2025
You could have the best install in the world... but if your voice shakes when you say your price, you’re going to lose the client.
At Studio She™ Academy, we teach our students that pricing isn’t just a number, it’s a reflection of how clearly you value your time, your work, and your energy.
So if you’re still in the process of raising your prices (or even just saying them out loud without flinching), this one’s for you.
Let’s talk about how to show up in your full value , even before your price tag catches up.
You’re Not Too Expensive — You’re Just Talking Like You Don’t Believe It
Most stylists don’t lose clients because of the actual number. They lose them because of how they say it.
Here’s the truth: when you waiver, over-explain, or rush through your pricing, it sends one big message: “I’m not even sure I’m worth this.”
But when you speak calmly, clearly, and without apology, you give your client permission to trust that you’re worth it, too.
Your pricing conversation starts way before you say a number. It starts with your energy. Your posture. The way you walk your client through your service.
✨ Slow down when you speak
✨ Make eye contact when you say the price
✨ Don’t rush to defend or explain it — just say it and let it land
People don’t invest because you “convince” them. They invest because you make them feel like they’re in the best hands.
If You’re Still Raising Your Prices, Say It With Confidence Anyway
Even if you’re still building experience, you can stand behind your pricing. Here’s how:
✨ Focus on what they do get
✨ Frame it around value, not time
✨ Keep your tone warm and steady
Try this:
💬 “The full transformation is $875. That includes the consult, install, custom blend, and your full aftercare plan.”
💬 “This is a 3.5-hour install, with premium hair and your color match included. You’ll leave with a maintenance schedule so you know exactly how to care for it.”
When you speak this way, people listen differently. They hear certainty so they feel safe investing.
Stop Offering Discounts Out of Guilt
This one’s hard — but you’ve got to hear it.
You do not owe anyone a discount just because they hesitate. You don’t need to make your work more “affordable” to prove you’re kind or generous. You are allowed to:
✨ Set a rate based on your time, skill, and overhead
✨ Charge premium prices without justifying them
✨ Choose not to negotiate with people who don’t value your work
Being flexible isn’t the same as being self-sacrificing. You can serve from overflow, not depletion.
What Clients Really Pay For
It’s not just the hair and the amazing results. It’s:
✨ The trust you build in the consultation
✨ The vibe of your space
✨ The security they feel knowing you won’t damage their natural hair
✨ The ease of working with someone who’s got it handled
The more you show up in your own authority, the easier it is for people to say yes — no matter where your price point lands.
