The difference between Russian and Asian Hair Extensions

Asian hair and Russian hair are both types of human hair that are commonly used in the production of hair extensions and wigs. However, there are some differences between the two types of hair.

One key difference is that Asian hair is generally thicker and stronger than Russian hair. It is also typically darker in color and has a straight or slightly wavy texture.

Russian hair, on the other hand, is known for its soft, silky texture and is often lighter in color.  You can achieve some of the most beautiful reds, light browns and dark blondes! It is also typically more resistant to damage and tangling.  Russian hair air dries with wave and has a natural frizz that helps blend with most caucasian hair.

Another difference is that Asian hair tends to be more readily available and less expensive than Russian hair, which is considered to be a premium type of hair.

Asian hair, unless stated, typically is placed in a caustic soda bath to break down the cuticle so that it blends better with all hair types.

Russian hair is VERY hard to source and there are many fake companies selling extensions claiming that the hair is from Russia.  In my experience, unless you are buying direct from the company, I would not trust the claim.

Overall, the choice between Asian hair and Russian hair will depend on the specific needs and preferences of the user, as well as their budget.

One of my favorite stories is from a small hair house in Los Angeles.  They were my go-to for Russian hair, until they were awoke in the middle of the night and forced to leave or pay a crazy amount of "fake taxes" on the hair extensions.

This caused them to flee Russia and start a business in India.
