Here's the thing...
Natural Beaded Rows, Beaded Rows, Sewless Wefts, Micro-Ring Wefts, NBR, SKW Extensions, Kacey Welch, Bombshell, Laced, and so on. Many will tell you they invented this method but I am here to say that is SO 1999!
And for you, youngin's that don't know. That's Prince above and you need recognize! :)
When I first started teaching all methods of hair extensions, not many Stylists were interested in weft application. To be frank, Caucasian females were not open to wearing any type of weft. (Notice, I am refraining from calling them a track! ). Being that my mentor is African American, I learned hair extensions working with ethnic hair, and to be honest, I love working with ALL the textures. However, I agreed that the machine weft application was bulky and less free-flowing for those with fine to medium caucasian hair. As a matter of fact, machine wefts were never anything I could personally wear. I've always thought of them as the perfect fit for editorial and weddings.
So what's different? Why is everyone talking about hand-tied wefts? SOCIAL MEDIA and INFLUENCERS are a powerful medium for marketing. At the end of the day, it's all about selling hair. For example, Coke Products are a lot like Pepsi right?! In order to capitalize on the market, new brands seem to appear more often than not. This is VERY confusing for the Stylist and consumer.
What else is different? In the past manufacturers didn't like working with labor-intensive methods such as hand-tied wefts but with the increased supply and demand, they are becoming more available.
I'm elated that this method has landed! It's a great way to add volume and length using fewer points of contact. Protecting the integrity of my client's hair is numero uno. By offering this service you are keeping up with trends but also helping promote healthier hair.
Stay tuned for the fall/summer 2020 Hand Tied Weft Mastery Class schedule.
